- All uploads work has been completed, next step is to work within the river and put a cap over all the sediment in the river
- The purpose of the cap is to protect the environment from anything puncturing the site. This is unlikely to happen but in the spirit of maximum prevention, this project is a very large environmental prevention effort
- No risks of environmental impact, human impact or water risks from this project. Tests have been completed with EPA
- Sediment is actually old shoreline from the 1880’s when site was constructed
- 2 permits needed before construction can begin: one from the Army Corps Of Engineers and one from the State of Ohio
- Upcoming work: in the upcoming 45 days, Duke will have 3 crews relocating mussels from the property shoreline to about 3 miles downriver, this is part of securing the necessary permits
