Steve Johns, President opened the meeting

 

Police Report, Officer Wendy Martin

  • Officer Wendy Martin, new reporting officer to the East End
  • 3 threats in area, 2 auto and 1 personal (boat)
  • Homeless issues are now going through the City Manager’s Office
  • 2260 Riverside requesting additional support during the early morning (3-6am)
  • 311 is the best resource for non-emergencies

 
LeBlond Report, Theresa Miller

  • Queen Bee Half Marathon took place Saturday, October 12th

 
School Report, Riverview Principal, Spencer Resource Coordinator, Mt. Washington School Resource Coordinator

  • Community Thanksgiving Dinner, no date has been set yet
  • Riverview serves as a resource center for the families, includes a food pantry for those in need
  • Will be hosting a clothing drive will be at the end of October - Nov/December - still in planning stages
  • Need new and gently used clothes
  • Looking for math tutors

 
GCWW Update

  • Pressure testing and connections testing will require complete and full closure of the road
  • Milling and repaving will be done before the end of the year
  • Expect that while they are paving there will be two lanes open with flaggers
  • Please reach out to Waterworks

 

Treasurer Report, Kathy Schwab

  • No report
  • Congratulations Kathy on your new granddaughter, Salem!
  • We have funds available to help support any additional needs for NSP

 

NSP Report, Regina Moss

  • NSP report submitted today, October 7th
  • Less than $700 in NSP Fund, hoping to fund the Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church
  • Final Reports will be done in a timely manner

 

East End Business District

  • Steve attended 3East CDC Meeting:
  • New owner of Allyn’s is the Fireside Pizza owner - plan is to keep Allyn’s the same
  • Supporting the Community Budget Request
  • Indicating interest in TIF

 
Garden Committee

  • Coming to the end of the season

 
President Report, Steve Johns

  • Voting on TIF Pilot Program
    • Timeline: council will act on this in January and would look to roll this out in the Summer
    • Motion to approve: Zach and Joe - Unanimously approved
  • Spicer Park's new fence is up, thank you Craig! Next Summer looking for a grand re-opening of the park
  • Tree survey of Schmidt Field for placement and maintenance of old trees
  • New benches and grills will come from out of the Community Budget Request
  • Request for traffic calming on the west end of the East End by Montgomery Inn - proposed a speed bump from DOTE and have been denied, next step is to ask why - suspect survey was done while the road is closed. Steve is meeting at several of the HOA’s in that area and all have been very supportive
  • LeBlond’s speed bump has been approved!

 
Nominating Committee:

  • Welcome any new candidates, at this current point the existing board is the only slate
  • Slate will be presented at November meeting and voting will be at December meeting

 
New Business:

  • Jane Sites, Lunken Airport - people are complaining that the City is letting Lunken airport go to ruins here is how we can help:
    • Call City Manager expressing your support of the Lunken Airport Development to ensure Lunken is registered as a historic priority which would allow the developer who is interested in restoring the property to take advantage of the grant they would use for Historic restoration
  • Joe Zimmerman - request for a noise reader for businesses, noise has been getting louder and louder, a noise reader would allow them to know when the noise is too loud at their establishments
